What happens when the record changes?

Extant Intelligence ·

Three overlapping records labelled Past, Present and Context, illustrating how information changes over time.

In due diligence, historical information can provide valuable context. A company website is updated. A directorship ends. A professional biography changes. Earlier information may no longer appear in today’s search results.

These changes are often entirely routine. But the current picture may not answer a question about what was happening at an earlier date.

That is why preserving sources, recording dates and comparing information over time matters. Equally, historical information must be clearly dated, so it is never presented as current fact.

At Extant Intelligence, we are building that distinction into our approach: helping clients understand what the record showed then, what it shows now and what the evidence supports.
